The academic Framework gives a framework to Higher Education Institutions on the different methods are possible to implement SocialErasmus activities in their exchange programmes.

Academic Framework - Part 1 focuses on the why volunteering during exchange can be very impactful on both the student and the local community and highlights the Third Mission of Universities. It showcases how SocialErasmus links the key aspects of social responsibility, internationalisation policies and soft skill development together, and showcases how SocialErasmus can answer to these priorities in the field of Higher Education.

Academic Framework - Part 2 focuses more on the implementation of the programme and on different methods that can be used to implement SocialErasmus as a course unit in the curricula of students, focussing on the concept of Community Service Learning.

“a form of experiential education where learning occurs through a cycle of action and reflection as students seek to achieve real objectives for the community and deeper understanding and skills for themselves. In the process, students link personal and social development with academic and cognitive development experience enhances understanding; understanding leads to more effective action.”

The document showcases two examples on how SocialErasmus can be implemented by referring to the best practices given by our partners in ESN Besancon and the University of Franche Comte and in the University of Vienna.
